Los Cabos Tourism Board (FITURCA) received the Destination of Excellence award during the fifth Heel Awards, organized by Meeting Professionals International, Mexico Chapter (MPI), for its outstanding collaborative work with the meeting industry.

“While meetings, events and travel have been halted due to the current health situation, the close collaboration we maintain with event planners has not ceased; The destination has successfully hosted more than 290 international events since its reopening on June 15^th. This is the result of the confidence of the visitors in the destination, thanks to the correct implementation of health and safety protocols such as the Crystal International Standards ”, said Rodrigo Esponda, General Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board.

The Meetings Industry contributes 6.8% percent of the gross domestic product in Baja California Sur alone, and 20% of room nights occupied in the destination. It represents a key factor towards the tourism recovery and that of Los Cabos’ economy. Hence, maintaining and growing strategic alliances with industry partners such as MPI is essential, in order to maintain the positioning of Los Cabos as a top destination to host meetings and events from around the world.

The Heel Awards recognize the leaders of the industry, institutions and associations that have strengthened the Meetings Industry in Mexico.
